GUWAHATI, Sept 6 - Cultural luminaries of the State will celebrate the 84th birthday of the living legend Dr Bhupen Hazarika on September 8 as the Day of Music of the Masses.
This programme organized by Heritage Northeast will be held at Vivekananda Kendra here from 6 pm onwards.
The maestro would be presented a replica of a silver palanquin as a special gift.
Pramod Saikia of Heritage Northeast informed that most of the veteran artistes including Khagen Mahanta, Archana Mahanta, Pulak Banerjee, Pahari Das, Mridula Das and others would participate in the programme.
Saikia said that all efforts have been made to make the programme a memorable one. "Different individuals and business enterprises have evinced interest to celebrate the occasion with us," said Saikia.
