GUWAHATI, Sept 9 - Dr Shah Mohammad Tanvir Monsur, Assistant High Commissioner and Head of Mission of the Bangladesh High Commission in Guwahati, called on Chief Secretary Alok Kumar at the Janata Bhawan here recently.
The officials discussed various issues, including improving air connectivity between the countries, improvement of bus routes from the Bangladeshi capital to Guwahati via Shillong, and waterways connectivity.
Besides, matters related to tourism also came up during the talks. It was decided that tour operators of both the countries will work on a plan to improve the tourism circuit in this part of the globe.
The two officials also discussed ways to have more cultural exchange programmes between the countries with the aim of improving bilateral relations through people-to-people contact.
