Bandh passes off peacefully

UDALGURI, Nov 10 � The Assam bandh called jointly by a number of organisations of Assam today evoked total response in Udalguri district. Reports of bandh poured from Kalaigaon, Tangla, Khoirabari, Harisinga, Rowta, Orang and Mazbat said that during the bandh hours all the business establishments were shut down while the educational institutes too wore a deserted look.

No untoward incident happened during the bandh while the security forces were seen patrolling the roads in the district as the vehicular traffic was off the road during the bandh

The bandh was called jointly by All Assam Hindibhashi Yuva Chatra Parishad and was supported by All Assam Bengali Youth-Students' Federation, All Assam Gorkha Students' Union, BJP, AGP, Hindusthani Sanmilan against the mass killing of innocent people by the NDFB in different parts of the State.

Mangaldai: The dawn-to-dusk Assam bandh called by Bhojpuri Yuva Parishad and supported by many organizations evoked good response in Darrang district including district headquarters Mangaldai and business hub of the district, Kharupetia town. Shops, banks and other financial institutions remained closed while commercial vehicles were off the road. Goverment offices were opened but presence of staff in most of the offices were very poor. No untoward incident has been reported during the bandh.
