KALAIGAON, Sept 30 - An awareness programme on plastic waste management under the flagship programme �Swachhata Hi Seva 2019� was recently organised at Kokagaon VCDC of Purandia village in Udalguri district.
The programme was organised by the District Water and Sanitation Committee. The awareness meet was presided over by Biradao Daimari, chairman of Purandia VCDC and inaugurated by Pradip Kumar Hazarika, Assistant Executive Engineer of PHE Tangla-cum-Nodal Officer of SBM-G.
The people were told about the need to stop using single-use plastic items.The harmful effects of plastic bags were also discussed in detail.
A public oath-taking programme was also held on the occasion. Other awareness messages on maintainance of health and hygiene, benefits of sanitary toilets and maintenance of cleanliness in the villages were also discussed. A rally and a cleanliness drive were also arranged in the village.
