Assam Valley School wins State-level debate contest

JORHAT, Oct 7 - The Assam Valley School team of Tezpur emerged winners at the 5th All Assam Inter-School Debate Competition organised by Hemalata Handiqui Memorial Institute Alumni Association at HHMI on the outskirts of the city here at Lichubari yesterday.

A school press note stated that the Assam Valley School team of Tezpur comprising Shagun Agarwal and Aarav Jain bagged the first position while the HHMI team comprising Swaswota Bopnos and Hrishita Dewan bagged the second position in the competition.

The note said that Swaswota Bopnos was adjudged the best debater in English while Shagun Agarwal won the same title in Hindi.

Altogether, 15 teams participated in the competition, the topic of which was, �All kinds of reservation at all levels should be abolished for the development of our nation�.

Former Principal of Army School Jorhat, Tasmin Hye conducted the debate competition.
