SHILLONG, Sept 22 - In sync with the Fit India campaign launched by the Government of India, the Assam Rifles on Sunday organised a Run for Fit India in all its garrisons in Shillong, stated a press release.
The main event was organised at the headquarters, Directorate General, Assam Rifles at Laitkor in Shillong, which was flagged off by Sangeeta Sangwan, president of the Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association, and Lt Gen Sukhdeep Sangwan, DG Assam Rifles.
Officers, JCOs and their families and children from Assam Rifles Public School (ARPS), Shillong participated in the run.
The 4-km run was an initiative towards leading a fit and healthy lifestyle. Assam Rifles said there will be more such events in the future.
