GUWAHATI, May 30 Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Sarbananda Sonowal confirmed that Assam along with Meghalaya will jointly host the 2015 South Asian Federation (SAF) Games in November.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function held here, Sonowal said Guwahati has been selected to host the SAF Games, along with Shillong and that the State Governments have stated that it will extend all cooperation to organize the event.

A standoff between the Centre and the State Government had earlier cast a shadow over hosting of the event in Assam.

There were also unconfirmed reports that the venue could be shifted to Kerala.
