GUWAHATI, Nov 12 - Assam suffered yet another defeat in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 Tournament.

In todays Group D match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Assam were beaten by neighbouring state Meghalaya by four wickets.

Put into bat, Assam were restricted to 108 for seven in their stipulated overs. In reply, Meghalaya smashed 110 with seven balls to spare losing six wickets.

For Assam Sib Sankar Roy (50 off 47 balls) and Abu Nechim Ahmed (26 off 19 balls) were the only contributors while others even failed to reach the double figure mark.

For Meghalaya, Puneet Bisht (42) and Raj Biswa (25) were useful run getters.

Assam players seemed to be lacking in commitment and almost all the players took the match very casually. Both batsmen and bowlers could not show dedication on the field and moved very leisurely.

Brief scores: Assam 107/7 (Sib Sankar Roy 50, Abu Nechim Ahmed 26; RR Biswa 2/14, R Sanjay Yadav 2/14). Meghalaya 110/8 (Puneeth Bisht 42, Raj Biswa 25; Sarupam Purkayastha 3/17).
