Assam betel nut trader killed

TURA, April 10 - The body of a betel nut trader from Mankachar in Assam was recovered two days ago from near the town of Dalu bordering Bangladesh.

The driver of the vehicle which was hired by the victim to ferry betel nuts from the Garo Hills, is also missing.

Meanwhile, West Garo Hills Police have arrested a suspect who allegedly masterminded the crime. While Willip D Sangma (37) of Ontapara was arrested on Tuesday, two others � Rohitson R Marak and Mose D Sangma � are currently absconding.

The trio allegedly killed the trader by hitting him on the head. According to the police, the murder is suspected to have taken place on the evening of April 7 with the body of the trader, Rohidul Islam, being recovered on the morning of April 8 at Ontapara village.
