ASEAN team to visit Manipur today

IMPHAL, Sept 18 � Ambassadors of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) are scheduled to arrive here on Sunday in a move to study the feasibility of opening trade and commerce between ASEAN and India through Manipur�s border town Moreh.

Malaysian Ambassador Dato Tan Seng Sung-led ASEAN team will gather a first-hand account on the feasibility of introducing trade through Moreh under India�s Look East policy, sources here said.

The team which include diplomats of Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore and Indonesia accompanied by officials of DoNER Ministry, is also scheduled to hold a meeting with the Chief Minister and State Government officials soon after their arrival.
