Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

ITANAGAR, Sept 5 The Arunachal Pradesh Government has said that it will soon get Rs 241.36 crore as net present value against two hydro-electric projects for diversion of forest land for non-forest use.

Dorjee Khandu, CM said this in reply to a question in the Assembly by Congress MLA Tenzing Norbu Thongdok yesterday.

He said, out of the total amount, Rs 238.72 crore was lying with Supreme Court and the remaining was with Compensatory Afforestation Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA), an ad hoc body appointed by the MoEF.

CAMPA was mandated by a 2002 SC judgement to collect the compensation money from projects that divert forest land for non-forest uses. PTI
