MORIGAON, April 2 � Arun Manta, member of Tiwa Autonomous Council, died at the GNRC Hospitals today, succumbing to his injuries sustained in a road mishap at Dharamtul on Thursday.
Manta, a noted tribal leader and a former president of Tiwa Yuba Chatra Parishad, had contested Lok Sabha elections from Nagaon in 1998. His death cast a pall of gloom in Morigaon.
Meanwhile, the All Tiwa Students� Union (Malang group) termed the death of Manta as mysterious because a Bolero vehicle without number plate hit him and they alleged it was used by some mysterious circles.
