TURA, Sept 8 - A cache of arms was recovered from a pond in Meghalayas West Garo Hills district, police said on Sunday. The cache is suspected to be dumped in the pond by a gang of inter-state dacoits, an officer said.

Acting on a tip-off from fishermen, we recovered three country-made guns and camouflage uniforms from the pond in Bholarbitha village under Phulbari Police Station limits on Friday evening, the officer said.

A gang of dacoits operating between Meghalaya and Assam was recently apprehended. We suspect the weapons belonged to this gang. We have handed over the suspects to Assam Police as many cases are pending against them, West Garo Hills SP MGR Kumar said. PTI
