Another school bombed along Assam-Mizoram border

SILCHAR, Nov 7 - Amid the tension along the Assam-Mizoram border, another school on the inter-State border has been allegedly bombed by miscreants.

DIG Southern Range Dilip Kumar Dey said that the incident took place at Upper Painom village in Hawaithang area of Cachar district around Friday midnight. He added that two personnel of the SSB have been deployed along the Cachar front of the inter-State border, while another SSB unit has been deployed in Karimganj and both units are functioning. Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli and Cachar SP BL Meena rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.

�There has been no casualty reported in the incident. The school was closed due to the COVID-19. This school falls under Narsingpur education block of the district. We are investigating the incident and an inquiry into the incident will be underway. An FIR will be lodged. However, I request that people must maintain peace and restraint and help us to conduct the probe,� the deputy commissioner said.

Meanwhile, the 12-hour Barak Bandh called by All Cachar Karimganj Hailakandi Students� Association (ACKHSA) in protest against the attempts made by the Mizos to encroach Assam territory and the incident of a person from Cachar found dead in the neighbouring State has ended peacefully.
