AGP against leaving Nalbari seat to BJP

Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

NALBARI, Feb 16 - The ongoing attempt of the BJP and the AGP to cement an alliance for the ensuing elections has been strongly opposed by the Nalbari district committee of the AGP. Hundreds of AGP activists on Sunday staged a dharna in front of the district AGP office and raised their voice against the proposed poll alliance. The AGP workers said that they wont give up the Nalbari Assembly constituency to the BJP as the AGP has won the constituency five times. They added that as ex-minister Nagen Sarma lost his life for the constituency, they will contest in the constituency on their own. The party workers will wait for the general council meet to be held tomorrow and if the party high command leaves the seat for the BJP, their agitational programme will be intensified.
