AEI foundation day celebration concludes

GUWAHATI, Feb 14 - The Assam Engineering Institute (AEI), located at Chandmari here, organised the concluding ceremony of its 71st foundation day celebration with a daylong programme on Wednesday, stated a press release issued today.

The day�s proceedings began with flag-hoisting by Institute Principal Akshay Chandra Kalita, followed by a march past by its students. A seminar on environmental issues was conducted by Ankuran Pathak, an officer from the Pollution Control Board, Assam, where the students of the Institute took active part.

A felicitation programme was organised by the Alumni Association of the Institute, where all the past and present teaching and non-teaching staff were felicitated. In the afternoon, Director of Technical Education Prof (Dr) Moushumi Barooah, inaugurated a memorial pillar constructed in the memory of teachers, employees and well-wishers of this Institute of yesteryear. It was followed by a general meeting where a souvenir published on the occasion was released by the Director. Dr Ilias Ali, who was honoured with the Padma Shri this year, was also felicitated in the meeting.
