GUWAHATI, May 21 � An alumni group of 1988 passed out batch of the Assam Engineering College (AEC) took the initiative of constructing three toilets/bathrooms at the Asom Shishu Kalyaan Sadan, a children shelter home at Sundorbori, Jalukbari near AEC here.
This is in continuation of the programme initiative by the group taken on February 14, 2015, when scholarships were awarded to two students of AEC, one for showing excellence in studies and the other for helping a needy, talented and deserving student.
Fund for the same was raised from the members of the batch only, who are living in different parts of the globe. The construction work was completed on May 17 and subsequently handed over to the Sadan on the same day. A chorus was presented by the inmates of Sadan. Members of the Sadan along with some members of the alumni group were present on the occasion. The alumni group vowed to continue their effort of social service in future, said a statement.
