GUWAHATI, Sept 19 - The Kamrup (Metro) district administration today carried out an eviction drive at Hotel Belle Vue in Kharghuli area.
A team led by Circle Officer of Guwahati revenue circle Aditya Gogoi assisted by personnel from Latasil Police Station, demolished the illegal staff quarters raised by the hotel management.
�It is government land and the land occupied by the hotel is allotted to Raj Bhawan. There were three families in the quarters and they have been evicted from the place. However, they have fully cooperated with the officials,� Circle Officer Gogoi said.
The eviction drive was carried out at 9.30 am. However, the team could not demolish the entire structure. �An excavator was taken there for the purpose but could not be put to use as it could not be taken to the actual site. So we demolished whatever we could by engaging the labourers,� Gogoi added.
