Actor Jibeswar Deka no more

NALBARI, Aug 24 - The last rites of renowned actor of mobile theatre groups in the State Jibeswar Deka who died last night due to cardiac arrest was performed at his birth place Belsor in Nalbari district in presence of his followers this morning.

Earlier, various organisations of the district offered their last respects to the beloved artist at his residence when his body arrived. A most popular actor, Deka fell seriously ill at his residence yesterday. He was immediately admitted to a private hospital of Nalbari town last evening. As his condition was critical, the doctors referred him to the GMCH last night. However, the doctors at GMCH declared him brought dead. He was 75 and leaves behind his wife, three sons and two daughters.

Deka was awarded the Natasurya Phani Sarma Award by the State Government for his remarkable acting in the play Dadhichi. He also performed with various mobile theatre groups of the State. His acting prowess on the stages of mobile theatre groups is still alive among the audience. He also received the Moonlight Media Award, Enajori Award and Silpi Pension from the State Government. More than a hundred organisations and reputed persons of Belsor in particular and Nalbari district in general have condoled his sudden demise.
