KAZIRANGA, Feb 27 - All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) president Pramode Boro reiterated that their struggle would continue till their demand for a separate Bodoland was fulfilled by the Government of India.
He was speaking to media persons today at the DRDA Guest House, Kohora on the sidelines of the oath-taking ceremony of the newly constituted 30-member ABSU executive. Boro said that for improving the living conditions of the Bodo people, a separate statehood is a final and lasting solution.
He alleged that during the last tripartite talks, the ABSU members were made to understand by the government that a clear picture of a separate Bodoland state would emerge before the start of the Parliament session, but it did not happen. �It was an act of betrayal against the people of Bodo community by the government,� said the ABSU president, adding that on March 2 they would hold a meeting in Baksa to chalk out the future course of action for a separate Bodoland state.
When pointed out about the functioning of the Bodoland Autonomous Council, Boro said that even though a minimal infrastructural works had been done in the BTAD areas, a separate state for Bodo people is important for overall development, especially in sectors like health and education, besides maintaining peace and harmony among all sections of the people, including non-Bodos, in Bodo-dominated areas.
