KAZIRANGA, Feb 27 - All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) president Pramode Boro reiterated that their struggle would continue till their demand for a separate Bodoland was fulfilled by the Government of India.

He was speaking to media persons today at the DRDA Guest House, Kohora on the sidelines of the oath-taking ceremony of the newly constituted 30-member ABSU executive. Boro said that for improving the living conditions of the Bodo people, a separate statehood is a final and lasting solution.

He alleged that during the last tripartite talks, the ABSU members were made to understand by the government that a clear picture of a separate Bodoland state would emerge before the start of the Parliament session, but it did not happen. It was an act of betrayal against the people of Bodo community by the government, said the ABSU president, adding that on March 2 they would hold a meeting in Baksa to chalk out the future course of action for a separate Bodoland state.

When pointed out about the functioning of the Bodoland Autonomous Council, Boro said that even though a minimal infrastructural works had been done in the BTAD areas, a separate state for Bodo people is important for overall development, especially in sectors like health and education, besides maintaining peace and harmony among all sections of the people, including non-Bodos, in Bodo-dominated areas.
