Abacus centre opened at Rupai Siding school

DOOMDOOMA, June 7 - With a promise to make children between 6 to 14 years of age adept in arithmetic calculation, a unit of NE Green Abacus under Mind Castle Educational Society was inaugurated at Modern Academy School at Rupai Siding here on Saturday.

Abacus, it may be mentioned, is a mental arithmetic concept through which students learn solutions of all mathematical problems without using the ubiquitous calculator. Inaugurating the centre, the principal of the school expressed the hope that the students of Doomdooma area would be benefited by this centre.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, journalist Abhijit Khataniar hoped that those students who have an irrational fear of Mathematics since childhood would be benefited through this centre.

The inaugural programme was anchored by the director of the centre Dhrubajyoti Baruah. A faculty of the centre Moon Moon Deori, besides students, teachers and parents were present at the inaugural function.
