SILCHAR, Sept 6 - The Airports Authority of India (AAI) brought a huge sigh of relief to the cancer affected people of the North-east and Barak Valley in particular as it extended the first instalment amount of Rs 11.14 crore to the Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre at Silchar on Thursday.
The cheque handed over by CL Indi, Director of AAI, Silchar to the Cachar District administration in the presence of Silchar MLA Dilip Kumar Paul and other BJP MLAs of Sonai, Katigorah and Udharbond along with Dr Ravi Kannan, Director of the cancer hospital.
Addressing the meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Dr S Laxmanan his conference hall, CL Indi, Silchar airport director said, �In 2017, Rs 76 lakh was given to the hospital for upgrading pathology laboratory. We at the AAI are also aware of our social responsibilities and have undertaken a number of projects across the North-east, including installation of solar plates under the Green India initiative. We are also working on expanding the passenger accommodation and hope that the new terminal building is made available soon.�
