BARPETA, April 23 - Polling for the 6 No. Barpeta Lok Sabha concluded in almost all the polling stations and 77.80% polling has been recorded till 7 pm. The overall percentage is likely to increase slightly as the process was not completed in a few polling stations and reports from a few are awaited.
Chenga assembly segment tops the list with 87.34% voter turnout followed by Jania with 86.53%, Sarukshetri 82.37%, Baghbar 81.12%, Barpeta 76% and Patacharkuchi 71.26%.
Abhayapuri North, Abhayapuri South and Bongaigaon in Bongaigaon district but part of 6 No. Barpeta Lok Sabha Constituency recorded 69.32%, 70.11% and 79% polling resoectively while Dharmapur under Nalbari district recorded 78.84%.
In Barpeta election district with six assembly constituency including Sarbhog which is part of Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency, the overall polling percentage was recorded at 82.73% till 7 pm.
Polling concluded peacefully in1354 polling stations and no untoward incident was reported so far. However, polling started a bit late in some polling stations due to technical errors.
