IMPHAL, Sept 1 - A seven-day State mourning �as a mark of respect� for former President Pranab Mukherjee who passed away on Monday at the age of 84 years, has been announced by the Manipur Government.
Condoling his demise, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the former President was an inspirational figure, who had served the country with great diligence in different capacities. His absence will leave a huge void which will be hard to fill up, Biren Singh added.
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president M Okendro Singh, Congress Working Committee member Gaikhangam and other party functionaries also condoled the death of Mukherjee in a condolence meeting at the Congress Bhavan here today.
