61 test positive in Nalbari dist

NALBARI, July 28 - A total of 61 persons, including three nurses of Nalbari Swahid Mukunda Kakati Civil Hospital and nine police personnel, have tested COVID-19 positive today. A panic situation gripped the maternity ward of the hospital after three nurses working in the ward tested positive. The hospital authority immediately shifted the patients to another ward.

It may be mentioned here that in the district all total 13 doctors including the superintendent of Nalbari Swahid Mukunda Kakati Civil Hospital have tested COVID-19 positive. As a result, the scarcity of doctors has caused concern in the district since the number of COVID-19 patients is increasing.

Meanwhile, the president of Nalbari district BJP Dr Mriganka Talukdar has also tested positive and he is now under home isolation. The Nalbari district administration closed the Mukalmua community health centre after two doctors of the hospital tested positive yesterday. According to official sources, total positive cases in the district has gone up to 506 till today.
