JORABAT, Sept 18 - The Jorabat Police today seized 60 bags of rice while being illegally transported on a Bolero Pick-Up (AS 01HC 9667) in the Ninth Mile near here.
The police said the rice, packed in 60 bags, was meant for distribution through PDS among the card holders. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested a youth identified as Mahidul Islam (24) of Barpeta in this connection.
He was illegally transporting the rice bags from Barpeta to Shillong. A case has been registered by the police in this regard.
