GUWAHATI, March 26 - Altogether 31 overloaded trucks carrying various materials were seized during a drive carried out by a team of the District Transport Office (Enforcement) and the Transport Commissioner�s central squad.
The trucks were seized near the DTO office at Gorchuk during the drive carried out between 8 pm and the stroke of midnight.
The trucks were carrying materials like sand, stone, rods, coal, etc.
A six-tyre truck is allowed to carry 10 tonnes of material and a 10-tyre truck can carry a maximum of 25 tonnes.
�All the vehicles were carrying excess load. The truckers are being penalised as per law,� an official said.
