3 held for dealing in banned drugs

GUWAHATI, June 22 - Three persons, including a pharmacy owner, have been arrested by the Bureau of Investigation (Economic Offences) for trading in banned drugs.

The accused � identified as Md Akhtar Ali of Mangaldai, Jogesh Kalita of Pachim Baragaon and Panjit Pathak of Noonmati � were caught at Pachim Baragaon.

BIEO officials seized 1,120 bottles of Aerodil cough syrup from an autorickshaw, and 12,960 Sampex Plus capsules and 3,400 Tremadol tablets from a Maruti Suzuki Alto vehicle.

The officials said Pathak owns a pharmacy through which he was involved in illegal trade of such drugs. He was caught while supplying the drugs to the other two accused.
