3 distinguished women feted

GUWAHATI, Sept 22 - Women organisations can play bold roles in solving women�s issues connected with family and social conditions, said noted educationist and musician Dr Lakshyaheera Das. She was speaking at a function held by the University Women Graduate Association in association with the Cotton University Library at the Cotton University here on Saturday. The function was organised by the Association to felicitate three prominent women � Nirupama Bargohain, Dr Lakshyaheera Das and Sudakshina Sarma, stated a press release here today.

In her address, Nirupama Bargohain, noted writer, recollected her days as a student of Cotton College. Singer Sudakshina Sarma sang a few songs along with her son, Rishiraj Sarma. Dr Lakshyaheera Das and Pahari Das also presented some songs.

Addressing the function, Prof Alaka Burhagohain, the founder president of the Association, recalled her association with the three distinguished women. Dr Subrata Sarma Bhattacharyya released the journal of the Association.
