29 more test COVID-19 positive in Sikkim

GANGTOK, Aug 6 - At least 29 more COVID-19 cases were reported in Sikkim today, pushing the tally in the Himalayan State to 829, an official said. Of the 29 cases, 27 were recorded in East Sikkim and two in South Sikkim, Director General (DG)-cum-Secretary, Health, Dr Pempa T Bhutia said.

Sikkim currently has 475 active cases, while 353 have recovered so far. One person has succumbed to the infection. East Sikkim has registered the maximum number of COVID-19 patients in the State at 582, followed by South Sikkim at 204, West Sikkim at 42, and one in North Sikkim, Bhutia said.

A total of 29,467 samples have been examined for COVID-19 so far, he added. � PTI
