2012 riots probe panel visits BTAD areas

KOKRAJHAR, March 2 � The one-man commission of inquiry headed by Mutum BK Singh, retired Judge of the Gauhati High Court, today visited the 2012 riot-affected areas of Kokrajhar district and interacted with the local people both from the Bodo and Muslim communities.

Singh said that the commission has been investigating into the 2012 riots that had claimed over 100 lives in the area, and at the completion of a thorough investigation, a report will finally be submitted by the commission by April next.

The commission officials today visited Tulsibil, Parowguri, Magurmari and Joypur areas in Kokrajhar district. They had visited Chirang district yesterday.

It may be mentioned here that the commission was formed in December 2012 to inquire into the circumstances leading to the riots.
