200-bed hospital for Naharkatia

DIBRUGARH, July 4 � Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that a 200-bed civil hospital will be set up in Naharkatia and at least five model hospitals will be established in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts.

About Rs 15 to 20 crore would be spent to set up the 200-bed hospital, the Health Minister said, adding that a sum of Rs 5 crore would be required for the construction of each of the model hospitals. The 50-bed model hospitals would come up in Lezai Kalakhowa, Tengakhat and Chabua in Dibrugarh district and Margherita and Philobari in Tinsukia district.

The Health Minister made these announcements during a press conference held at the Circuit House here on Friday evening. He also expressed the hope to start the 108 Mrityunjoy emergency medical ferry service from Sadiya to Sapakhowa after introducing one such kind in Majuli this month.
