ITANAGAR, Feb 21 - In two separate alleged incidents of rape, the modesty of two minor girls was outraged by two persons, including a school teacher, at Yingkiong in Upper Siang and Daporijo in Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh recently.
The sleepy town of Yingkiong witnessed a violent protest with the irate family members of a five-year-old rape victim vandalising the Yingkiong police station on Tuesday.
Enraged at getting the information that the accused, a school teacher, was shifted to Aalo police station in West Siang district on Monday night, the aggrieved family took this aggressive step. However, alert fire fighters doused the fire immediately, informed Upper Siang DC Duly Kamduk.
The accused, identified as Holivi Sema of Nagaland, was handed over to police by the relatives of the victim on Monday evening (February 19). The accused has been booked under POSCO Act. According to the child, the sexual assault took place on February 17.
In another horrific incident, an eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Daporijo on February 14 last.
The accused was paraded naked in the market area before being handed over to police on Tuesday.
