DHUBRI, Aug 3 - Two innocent persons lost their lives in a freak road accident triggered by police action on the NH-31 in the Maspara area near Bilasipara on Saturday.
In a highway chase, the police was following a �stolen� mini truck and fired upon the vehicle that lost control and knocked a two-wheeler before hitting another truck.
The biker, identified as Ali Hussain, was killed on the spot while the pillion rider was flung into a roadside waterbody under the impact of the collision. SDRF and police personnel are searching for the body of the pillion rider.
Meanwhile, local people staged a blockade on the road and demanded an investigation into the incident. They accused that due to improper and unplanned action of police two innocent persons lost their lives.
