2 drug peddlers caught

ITANAGAR, Sept 22 - A group of volunteers along with police today caught two drug peddlers at Enthem village under Namsai police station in Arunachal Pradesh�s Namsai district and recovered 23.45 gm of brown sugar along with some cash and an ATM card from their possession.

The captured drug peddlers identified as Subash Kanti Chakma and Arun Bihari Chakma of Dumpathar-III (Udaipur) of Changlang district were later handed over to police.

On being tipped off about the presence of the accused in the village, the members of Youth Association of Manna Enten & Enthem (YAMEE) rushed there and apprehended the two drug peddlers. However, two of their accomplices managed to flee.

A case has been registered and police has launched an investigation to nab the absconding persons.

Of late, some of eastern Arunachal districts including Namsai and Changlang were caught in the vicious cycle of substance abuse and the number of drug addicts are increasing, sources said.
