JORHAT, Sept 28: In two separate incidents, Jorhat police arrested an alleged land-broker from Lichubari area and in the other, a mandal working in Jorhat West Circle Revenue office on charges of fraud.
A police source stated that Kasil Ahmed, a resident of Danish Nagar under Lichubari Police Outpost here was arrested and his licensed arms seized by the police.
Ahmed was arrested on charges of duping a person of a big sum of money and threatening the man with his licensed arms, the source said.
Aminul Haque Choudhury, a resident of Rajabari-Tocklai area had lodged a complaint with the police recently alleging that Kasil Ahmed sometime back took Rs 35 lakh from him and shown him different plots of land, but did not finalised any deal and kept the entire amount.
When Choudhury asked for the money, Kasil allegedly threatened him with his arms following which Choudhury filed an FIR against Kasil and a case (No: 2618/2019) under Sections 406, 420 and 506 IPC was registered at Jorhat Police Station, the source stated.
Kasil was sent to judicial custody by a local court here after he was produced at the court on Friday.
In the other case, Bhaba Tamuly, a mandal attached to the Jorhat West Revenue Circle office here was arrested by the Bhogdoi Police on charges of illegally transferring a land belonging to Mamuu Dutta of Kolakhowa to another person.
Tamuly, who was arrested in the Jorhat Police Station case (No:1642/2019) under Sections 420 and 406 of the IPC, was granted bail by a court here after he was produced in the court.
