1,020 cases reported in Mizoram

AIZAWL, Sept 2 - The COVID-19 tally of Mizoram today reached 1,020 with eight more persons, including six security personnel, testing positive during the last 24 hours.

�While seven cases were detected through PCR tests at the Zoram Medical College, Aizawl, one case was detected through rapid antigen test,� an official source said.

The new positive persons include five Assam Rifles personnel and one BSF personnel, the source added.

One of the eight cases is a 40-year-old woman from College Veng locality who contracted the virus from her husband.

The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Mizoram stands at 410, while 610 people have recovered from the disease so far.

Meanwhile, Mizoram Health Secretary H Lalengmawia, in a letter to Dr H Lalchungnunga, Principal Director, Health and Family Welfare Department on Wednesday, said that eight COVID-19 patients were discharged from a COVID Care Centre at the ITI locality in Aizawl on September 1 even though they had tested positive again.

The Health Secretary instructed the Principal Director to take immediate action to recall the patients.
