1-man probe panel visits slain doctor�s residence

JORHAT, Sept 8 - The one-man commission appointed by the State Government to probe the incident of killing of Dr Deben Dutta, the doctor of Teok Tea Estate by a mob on August 31, arrived in Jorhat on Saturday.

Commissioner and Secretary of the Finance Department, Shyam Jagannathan, has been directed to conduct the inquiry into the circumstances leading to the death of Dr Dutta.

A district administration official stated that Jagannathan yesterday met senior police and district administration officials and then visited the residence of the deceased doctor at Jogduwar in Teok.

The official further said that the Commissioner and Secretary also visited the hospital of Teok Tea Estate where the incident occurred and inspected the area where the doctor was attacked.

Meanwhile on Friday, former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and later a delegation of Assam Tea Tribes Students� Association also visited Dr Dutta�s residence and offered their condolences to the bereaved family.
