1 held with Rs 10 lakh demonetised currency

DERGAON, Sept 2 - A person with Rs 10 lakh demonetised currency notes was arrested by Golaghat Police last night.

Police source said that Biman Gogoi alias Pinku (30) was arrested with the demonetised currency of Rs 500 denomination amounting to Rs 10 lakh while he was travelling in an Alto car with the money.

A police team led by ASP Golaghat stopped the vehicle at Baghedhora Gaon at Gamariguri in Merapani, 20 kms off Golaghat town along the Assam-Nagaland border and seized the money.

Following confession by Biman, police picked up Babul Gogoi of Merapani and Manjit alias Mantu Baruah of Adarsha village of Merapani, who were released on bail after interrogation.

The actual picture of transit of the money under reference will be clear only after the inquiry by police.
