GUWAHATI, July 6 - The World Zoonoses Day, 2018 was observed by the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Association (AAHVSA) today with a free anti-rabies vaccination camp for pet dogs and cats at the Chenikuthi veterinary hospital, a press release stated.

Shyam Jagannathan, Commissioner and Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Government of Assam, inaugurated the camp. Joint Secretary, Dipali Devi and other officials were also present on the occasion. Jagannathan in his speech urged the concerned people to keep records of the occurrence of zoonotic diseases in the State, which will help in formulating strategies to keep them in check.

Dr Dandeswar Deka, president and Dr Bhuban Ch Sarmah, general secretary of the AAHVSA respectively offered their gratitude to the pet owners of the locality as well as the officials of the department for their participation in the programme. A total number of 45 animals were vaccinated.
