Zoo extends e-ticketing system

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Sept 30 - Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma inaugurated the electronic ticketing system at the Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden here today.

Senior officials of the Forest Department were also present on the occasion.

From now onwards, tickets in all the three counters of the State Zoo will be computer generated.

Zoo DFO Tejas Mariswamy told The Assam Tribune that the e-ticketing system would help the zoo authorities understand the trend of visitors coming to the State Zoo and help the former to deal with visitors more efficiently. It has provision for online booking as well.

The ticket is well designed as the back side of the ticket contains the zoo map, which will act as guide for the visitors, Mariswamy said.

The ticketing software takes inputs like the number of people, camera, vehicle, etc. and generates one single ticket with a barcode. The barcode will again be verified at the entry. However, the rates of tickets will remain unchanged.

The State Zoo authorities had registered around 6 lakh visitors last year. The facility has over 1,100 inmates.

Meanwhile, as part of the Wildlife Week celebrations, which will be commencing tomorrow, an elephant procession will be taken out on Sunday. The procession will start from the State Zoo at 8 am.
