Zonal disaster management resource centre

GUWAHATI, Sept 9 - A Zonal Disaster Management Resource Centre was opened recently at NFR headquarters, Maligaon by NFR GM Sanjive Roy, representatives from 1st Bn NDRF, Principal Chief Safety Officer of NFR and other officials.

The facilities of this centre are updated as per ISO 9001-2015 certification requirement to deal with any type of disaster, an NFR spokesman said.

The centre will serve as an aid in achieving a quick disaster response and ensuring immediate attention to injured persons in case of railway mishap by ensuring appropriate coordination between different departments of railways, apart from civil authorities.

The overall objective of the centre is to convey and apprise officers and officials of their roles and responsibilities to minimise the possibility of loss of life and property during a disaster.
