Zeliang visits Phesama landslide-hit area

DIMAPUR, Aug 28 - Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang visited landslide-hit areas at Phesama along NH-29 in Kohima district today to take stock of the situation. NH-29 is the lifeline of southern Angami region in Nagaland and Manipur.

He said this is one of the biggest disasters in Nagaland and assured all possible help from the government side. He also said a bypass road will be constructed immediately if the soil is found suitable.

Nagaland PWD Chief Engineer has submitted the survey report to the Chief Minister who donated Rs 10 lakh as immediate relief. Altogether 29 houses were dismantled, 48 families affected and 40 houses damaged by the massive landslide so far.

On Thursday, State Home Minister Y Patton visited the affected site and met the affected families. An official statement said the BRO is making all out efforts to clear the road by engaging heavy machineries.
