KOHIMA, Jan 21 Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang today expressed confidence that the current political situation in the State will be lawfully and constitutionally resolved, saying the spiral of lies emanating from the dissident camp within NPF has left him dumb-founded.
The chronology of events to create dissent within the Naga Peoples Front (NPF) to remove me as the Chief Minister is known to everyone, said Zeliang while addressing a press conference at his residential office here.
Expressing dismay over acts of some misguided NPF leaders, he said the spiral of lies emanating from the dissident camp has left him dumb-founded.
I have upheld all principles as a party worker, legislator and defended the office of the Chief Minister with responsibility and dignity, he claimed.
On the issue of change in leadership, the Chief Minister stressed that only a test of confidence on the floor of the State Assembly would resolve the matter.
It is not for me to direct the Governors office on how to act, but I can say I have his confidence and that of the BJP Central leadership, who have been kept abreast of the developing situation, he said.
On the claims of the dissident group that they were not for toppling the government, but for leadership change within the NPF party, Zeliang alleged a double game was being played to confuse the Governor and the people, and expressed hope that Governor PB Acharya would not succumb to pressures.
I have 52 members of the NPF-led DAN partners in the House of 60, he said, adding, there was no threat to the government. Commenting on allegations of the dissidents that Zeliang and his wife have stashed Rs 78.66 crore in foreign bank accounts, the Chief Minister said the State Home department has requested the Union Home Ministry to speedily inquire into the allegations of black money transfer to overseas accounts and to establish the authenticity of the allegations. PTI
