SIVASAGAR, Feb 29 - Zangam Club defeated Moran Cricket Academy by 71 runs to emerge champions in the Sujit Dutta- Himangshu Kharghoria All Assam Prize-money T-20 Cricket Tournament.
In the final played at Nazira, under the aegis of Nazira Town Sports Club yesterday, put in to bat, Zangam Club batsmen managed a total of 152 runs before being bundled out. Sandip Paul Mazumdar top scored with 51 runs while Pritom Borah contributed 32 runs. Harun Kazi 4/25 and M Hussain 3/24 were the main wicket takers for Moran. Chasing the target, Moran boys were all out for 81. Arpan Dutta 4/4, Wasikur Rahman 3/17 were the leading wicket takers for Zangam.
Sandip Paul Mazumdar was adjudged the best batsman of the tournament while Roshan Alam walked away with the best bowler title. Wasikur Rahman was awarded with the best player trophy while Arpan Dutta was adjudged the man of the final. The champion team got Rs 25,000 while the runners-up had to be content with Rs 15,000. In the closing function, Zahid Sristi, SDO, Nazira; Manoj Bhagawati, former player; Ali Haidar gave away the prizes.
