Youths trained under PM Kaushal Kendra get job offers

HAILAKANDI, Dec 14 - Amid the COVID-19 crisis, a boy from Hailakandi town has shown a ray of hope to the skilled unemployed youths in the post-lockdown period.

In the present scenario where millions of people are losing their jobs almost every day, Kanai Bhowmik of Hailakandi received training as a field technician for home appliances under the Prime Minister Kaushal Kendra (PMKK), Hailakandi. He recently received an offer from Penguin Electronics Limited in Shimla for the job of an assembly line operator, with Rs 9,500 as in-hand salary.

�I am very excited to join this company. I have never travelled so far and I always wanted to travel for work. I have just completed my field technician course from the PMKK, Hailakandi and learned new skills. I am very much excited to apply my skills in my profession,� Kanai said.

More than 100 students like him at the PMKK, Hailakandi were placed in sectors such as healthcare, automobile and electricals, and have been offered salary packages of up to Rs 11,000 per month.

The students said they are pleased with the job offers as many of them have never travelled outside their homes and hence regard it as a very big opportunity.
