Youths asked to be part of voting system

GUWAHATI, Jan 27 - �The youths of the country will decide the future course of modern India, and their voting rights should be exercised with great patriotic spirit and fair political conscience.� This observation was made by Dr Sikhamoni Konwar, Principal of Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College here, during a lecture programme organised in the college premises on January 24, said a press release today.

Dr Konwar appealed to the youths to take active part in the voting system of the country.

Dr Mowsumee B Hazarika, Vice-principal and Dr Kanan Medhi Patgiri, Head, Department of Assamese also spoke on the occasion.

On the occasion a lecture competition on the topic �Election Process: The Role of Youth� was also organised among the students where the first, second and third prizes were won by Blesse Volte, Prashar Mishra and Abhinayan Bora (jointly) and Kanchan Nath respectively. Krishna Karki won the consolation prize.

On the occasion of National Voters� Day on January 25, a rally was taken out by the students and teachers of the college to the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, the venue of the central function. A student of the college, Krishna Karki was selected by the district administration to speak on the occasion attended by Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi.

College Principal Dr Konwar and Vice-principal Dr Hazarika were felicitated on the occasion for the college� active participation in the observation of National Voters� Day.
