Youth sanitizes village, distributes masks

By Correspondent

JORABAT, May 9 - Amid the nationwide lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, residents of Adarsh Nagar on the outskirts of Guwahati city have heaved a sigh of relief after a youth of the area emerged as a role model to help the village fight against the deadly virus.

As has been learnt, the villagers had approached various government representatives of the area to conduct a sanitization drive in their village, but they failed to get any positive response.

Touched by their concern, a 24-year-old youth, Shivam Paul today surprised the villagers with his initiative. He conducted a sanitization drive and spread awareness about the novel coronavirus pandemic. He also gifted two pieces of masks each to over 50 households.

Paul also installed a touch-free sanitizer dispenser at the village entrance to keep the residents out of harms way. All the expenses were borne by the Paul himself.

Talking to The Assam Tribune, Paul said, As it is almost impossible for the government to reach out to every village to sanitize it, I came up with an idea to engage the youths in the fight against the pandemic. So I took the initiative.

Paul has called upon the States youths to come together to fight the deadly virus in their respective areas with similar initiatives.
