Youth �picked up by Army� found dead

JALAH, Dec 23 � The dead body of one of the three youths who were allegedly picked up by Army from Narayanpur Bazar in Baksa on Friday last was recovered today at Dalongpar under Tamulpur Police station.

The three youths - Kundan Basumatary, Rajib Basumatary and Rajkumar Rabha, all in their 20s and from Narayanpur village were picked up a team in army fatigue in a Tata Sumo vehicle on December 21 last from Narayanpur Bazar under Mushapur Police Station in Baksa.

While the dead body of Rajib was recovered today, Rabha survived with multiple injuries and walked back home this morning while the whereabouts of Kundan Basumatary, who is a member of Baksa district Youth BPF is not known. Rajkumar Rabha owns a shop at Narayanpur Bazar.

According to Rabha, after they were picked up they were taken to some isolated place where Kundan was killed the same evening. Later they were taken to some place towards Tamulpur and kept there with their hands and eyes tied.

Rabha said they were constantly asked about illegal weapons and tortured. The local people alleged it was a part of secret killing by security forces and demanded proper investigation.

Baksa Deputy Commissioner Babul Chandra Borbora said an investigation would be carried out into the incident.
