Youth lynched amidst efforts to snub �dacoity� rumours

SILCHAR, Sept 10 - At a time when constant efforts were being made by Cachar district administration and police to convince people of the district not to pay heed to the rumors on snatchers attempting to run away with essential documents of NRC from households, a 25 year-old boy was caught by the locals and lynched at Chandrapur Gaon Panchayat believing him to be a miscreant.

DIG (Southern Range) Akhilesh Kumar Singh on Sunday said that the deceased has been identified as Rinku Das, a resident of Bajarichora in Karimganj district. When police reached the spot, the boy was found in an injured condition and was rushed to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital where he was declared dead.

The DIG also informed that four persons including Alim Uddin Laskar (30), Kalam Uddin Laskar (38), Esam Uddin Laskar (28) and Asim Kumar Sinha (50) have been arrested for alleged their link in the incident.

On the other hand, Cachar Deputy Commissioner Dr S Laxmanan has made it clear that strict action will be taken against those who will be taking law in their hands.

Cachar SP Rakesh Roushan said that police have been instructed to intensify patrolling across the district. He also informed that police control room has been opened and people can report at 03842 2246892 number if any suspicious incident comes to their notice.
